Sib. 7.0: Sib 7 Inspector shortcut key Posted by Jang Ming Cheng - 26 Oct 03:11AM Hide picture Just to report an error in the Sib 7 ref manual:In Sib 7 ref manual, pg 188, sect 2.11, it says that the shortcut key for inspector is Shift-Command-I (in Mac). But this doesn't work at all. The correct key is (as shown in bubble help) Opt-Command-P. But this command can only turn it on, can't turn it off, i.e. not a toggle function. In Sib 6, this Inspector is called Properties, and the same shortcut key sequence (Opt-Command-P) applies, and this key sequence is a toggle action.Although (in Sib 7) the ESC key can be used to turn off Inspector, if the same shortcut key can be used to toggle it, it will be more convenient. If you switch to 'Standard menus and shortcuts' on the Keyboard Shortcuts page of Preferences you'll find that the default shortcut is indeed Ctrl+Shift+I.-- Contact Sibelius technical help online: Contact Sibelius technical help by phone (charges may apply):USA & Canada: +1 650-731-6106UK: +44 (0)20 7561 7997Australia: 1300 652 172Other countries: www.sibelius.com/support Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.0: Sib 7 Inspector shortcut key Posted by Jang Ming Cheng - 26 Oct 05:06PM Hide picture Yes, Daniel, you're right, I'm using my own custom set of keyboard shortcuts imported from Sib 6. I check all the standard shortcut sets provided by Sib 7, and yes, it is indeed \"Command-Shift-I\" for Inspector. For my custom keyboard shortcuts, I only re-map the numeric keys to right hand (following the original MBP keyboard layout when the blue NUM keypad was still overlaid). I'm so used to using my right hand to enter the notes, so I can't use the standard shortcuts which maps the numeric keys to the left hand.Perhaps I will copy over the standard shortcut set in Sib 7 and just re-do my mapping again. This will ensure that I will use all the standard shortcut keys as stated in the ref manual. Then I encounter a problem with the keys U and I. In Sib 7, I can't enter alt-U (to map to 4) or alt-I (to map to 5), what appears in the Keyboard Shortcuts (under Preferences, in Mac) screen is the accents (because in Mac, the alt key is used to enter accents above some vowels). But when I tried the same thing in Sib 6, there is no problem, i.e. I pressed alt-U and this keystroke shows up in the Keyboard shortcut entry. Is there any workaround Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.0: Sib 7 Inspector shortcut key Posted by Daniel Spreadbury - 27 Oct 04:54PM Hide picture I'm afraid not. The keyboard handling is somewhat different in Sibelius 7 than in previous versions due to the major rewrite that has happened since Sibelius 6.-- Contact Sibelius technical help online: Contact Sibelius technical help by phone (charges may apply):USA & Canada: +1 650-731-6106UK: +44 (0)20 7561 7997Australia: 1300 652 172Other countries: www.sibelius.com/support Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.0: Sib 7 Inspector shortcut key Posted by Jang Ming Cheng - 28 Oct 03:37AM Hide picture Perhaps if the Delete key is not mapped in Keyboard shortcuts, then I can still use it to edit the key sequence, e.g. since I can't enter alt-U on Mac keyboard, I can instead enter ctrl-alt-U, then highlight and delete the ctrl. But the Delete key doesn't work then as it is also mapped. Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.0: Sib 7 Inspector shortcut key Posted by Daniel Spreadbury - 28 Oct 08:23AM Hide picture You can just put the focus into that edit control and type your new shortcut: you don't need to delete the old one.-- Contact Sibelius technical help online: Contact Sibelius technical help by phone (charges may apply):USA & Canada: +1 650-731-6106UK: +44 (0)20 7561 7997Australia: 1300 652 172Other countries: www.sibelius.com/support Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.0: Sib 7 Inspector shortcut key Posted by Jang Ming Cheng - 28 Oct 02:46PM Hide picture Yes, that method works for all the keys, except for key strokes such as alt-U, alt-I, alt-E, etc. i.e. those keys that enters the accents (on Macs). This is the problem I'm talking about. So if the delete key is not mapped, then I can use it to delete a key stroke of, say, ctrl-alt-U and make it into alt-U.Anyway, since there is no way out here, I will figure out something else.Perhaps, in future, maybe a new \"Delete\" button can be added to the Keyboard Shortcuts in Preferences so that user can edit the key sequences instead of only typing keystrokes.
